ADMET's ASTM D412 Testing Equipment

ADMET ASTM D412 Testing System

ASTM D412 covers the tensile properties of thermoset rubbers and thermoplastic elastomers.  ADMET's eXpert 7601 tensile testing machine was designed for testing elastomer, rubber, film, and silicone for tensile strength and elongation per ASTM D412 and tear strength per ASTM D624.

ADMET's standard test system for ASTM D412 and D624 includes:

  1. eXpert 7601 single column 1kN capacity (225 pound) universal testing machine
  2. MTESTQuattro software with built-in ASTM D412 & D624 test profiles and calculations
  3. Long travel extensometer for measuring elongation of "dogbone" shaped specimens
  4. Grips.  Your choice of pneumatic grips with hand switches or foot pedals or manual self-tightening grips
  5. Caliper and eGauge software plugin for electronically capturing the specimen width and thickness
  6. Specimen cutting dies and toggle press

This system performing the ASTM D412 test:

Test Procedure:

  1. Cut or injection mold your material into a "dumbbell" shaped specimen.
  2. Load the specimen into tensile grips.
  3. Attach the optional extensometer to the sample
  4. Pull specimen at 20" per minute
  5. End the test after sample break (rupture)

 Analysis obtained:

  1. Stress at user-specified extension or elongation
  2. Tensile Yield Stress
  3. Tensile Yield Strain
  4. Tensile Strength at Rupture
  5. Elongation at Rupture
